Piedmont travel log – day five

Today began with an excursion to Desana where we visited a rice farm called La Tenuta Margherita. After a presentation on the rice production process at La Tenuta we were served a three course tasting entirely rice based right down to the breadsticks.
On the route back to Casale we stopped at Camino for a guided tour of the its medieval castle, which was once home to the Marquis of Montferrat.
We wrapped this busy day up back in Casale with a dinner at Il Galletto. The menù:
Thin sliced “lardo” with nuts and parmigiano
Spinach flan with melted cheese
Tagliolini (traditional pasta of Piedmont) with sausage
Ratatouille with chicken
Bunet (traditional cake of Piedmont)
