Italian Government Regulations Require Language Proficiency
to Apply for Italian Citizenship
Offered by the Università per Stranieri, the CILS exam officially certifies individuals’ Italian language skills. Students that successfully pass all sections of the exam will receive a certificate issued from the Università per Stranieri di Siena, which is recognized by the Italian Government on the basis of an agreement with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The CILS certification at the B1 level satisfies the linguistic requirement set in force on 12/04/2018 by law n.132, introduced to article 9.1 of the law of 02/05/1992, n.91, which states that as a condition for recognition of citizenship pursuant to articles 5 and 9 “Citizenship through Marriage or Same-Sex Union” of the aforementioned law, possession of adequate knowledge of Italian, not less than level B1, is now required.
Sentieri Italiani is offering a CILS Preparation Course: B1 Level that will prepare students for the CILS exam by providing a review of all of the grammar structures covered on the exam and introducing students to the various sections of the test: listening, reading comprehension, writing and speaking.
This class will be taught by Dr. Cavallero, a certified CILS instructor by the University of Foreigners in Siena.
