Cruise Venice by Boat and Discover the Grand Canal
(and some little hidden canals, too)

11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. Central Daylight Savings Time
Presented in English

On this private, guided boat tour along the Grand Canal, you’ll discover “the most beautiful street in the world” and its magnificent palaces. Built over the course of centuries, the Venetians have made the “Canalusso” what it is today. Let your imagination take you back to the time when the “squeri” (singing gondoliers) were at the height of their magnificence, when the “fonteghi” were full of merchants, smells and colors, and the noblest families held parties in their marvelous houses. Why are there so many different styles and where do those Moorish windows come from? You’ll find the answers to those questions and many more when you cruise along with us. You’ll be entertained with the history of the buildings and the stories of their owners (some of whom are universally well-known).

We’ll also navigate some smaller canals, where we’ll enjoy some delicious glimpses of little bridges (fondamente), with local foods and artisanal shops — the real Venice — where the few remaining Venetians still live.

Venice was built on the water and it’s from the water that it gives the best of itself.

Discover Venice through the eyes of a real Venetian!

My name is Alvise. It’s a very common name here in Venice, used by the Doges during the period of the Most Serene Republic of Venice. In English, it could be creatively translated as Elvis! I was born and raised in Venice and after I completed my studies in Art History and the Conservation of Cultural Heritage at the University of Venice, I decided to start on the path of becoming a professional tour guide.

I’ve had several work experiences abroad, both in Great Britain and the United States, over a period of two years. I’ve also worked as an actor in small roles in various films here in Venice. I’ve worked at events, art exhibitions and I also played for a semi-professional soccer team.
