With the 2014 World Cup starting in just three days, gli Azzurri will begin their quest to reclaim the title of Campioni del Mondo, which they won in 2006.

Italians are serious about calcio, soccer or literally “kick”– and this year is no different. Allenatore, head coach, Cesare Prandelli has brought only the best to Brazil to compete in the Mondiali, or Word Cup games. On the campo, field, we’ll see superstar Mario Balotelli as attaccante, or striker. Centrocampista, midfielder, Andrea Pirlo will be creating plays for his teammates, while difensore Giorgio Chiellini will be defending. In the net is veteran portiere, goalkeeper, and capitano, team captain, Gigi Buffon, looking to block goals and prevent the game from going to penalty kicks, or rigori.

Italians start their 2014 World Cup campaign in a partita, game, against England on Saturday, June 14th at 5:00pm.

Forza Azzurri!
