Cin cin! Wine tasting 2015

On Saturday February 7th, Sentieri hosted its very own wine tasting event hosted by Italian-trained wine sommelier Annie Shapero!  After eight years in Italy, Annie now heads up DiVino, a wine tasting event and consulting company operating out of New York.

Annie shared her knowledge about many different wines and how to taste them.  The class tasted six types of wine that come from various regions in Italy:

1) Consumano Insolia (Sicily):  A white wine with citrus and stony notes.
2) Maculan Pino & Toi (Veneto): A dry white wine with citrus, fruity and floral flavors.
3) Elena Walch Lagrein (Alto Adige):  A red wine filled with subtle notes of black pepper, cacao, cherry and blackberry.
4) Coltibuono Chianti Cetamura (Tuscany): A vibrant ruby red wine with cherry notes and a crisp acidity.
5) Tasca D’Almarita Regaleali Nero D’Avola (Sicily): A bright ruby red wine with berry flavors and silky tannins.
6) Santi Valpolicella Classico Superiore Ripasso “Solane” (Veneto):  A silky red wine with a rich flavor of ripe berries, dried fruit and spices.

The event was a great success!  Sentieri students invited many of their friends to join along in the fun.  Everyone, students and non-students, left happy and left with a greater understanding of tasting Italian wine.

If you were not able to make the wine tasting, but would like to receive updates on upcoming events, join Sentieri’s mailing list today!
