Ten Years of Sentieri Italiani

In May of 2005, Sentieri Italiani opened its doors for the first time at 5430 N. Broadway Street. That summer began the first quarter of classes at this location, all on weeknights, with just a few levels to choose from. The school didn’t even have internet – this website was just a homepage. The front window read “Casa Italiana” – a homey name, by which some of the old guard students and members still call the school.

Much of this has changed in the last decade. Sentieri’s classes grew to two groups each evening Monday through Thursday, a Friday morning book club and two Saturday morning classes. The students who have been at Sentieri the longest are in Conversation 3 and 4. Socializing in Italian seems to come naturally to them these days.

Sentieri’s online presence has also evolved tremendously. Visit the website today and read about Italian classes and events, Italian dual citizenship and trips to Italy. There’s also a “News” page with blog posts where you can read about Italian idioms, holidays, films and much more. Sentieri’s email newsletter keeps patrons informed of all updates – don’t be surprised to find a special coupon in these emails every once in a while!

Meanwhile, for all you Facebook users out there, in 2011, Sentieri created its Facebook page full of photos from Sentieri events and trips as well as posts and shares about Italy today. As for that Casa Italiana sign in the window? That has been changed as well. Now it reads Sentieri Italiani, which means Italian pathways. This May Sentieri celebrated its 10 year anniversary at 5430 N. Broadway with food, wine and toasts from our friends. You can see the photos from this fun event on the events page of the website.Vetrina_Sentieri_Daniela
