How to talk about “Daylight Savings Time” and “Standard Time” in Italian

This year, November 2nd, 2015 we will return to the “Ora Solare”, or “Standard Time” in the English idiom.  The Italian “Ora Solare” literally translates to “solar time”. This is when clocks are set to the true time as indicated by the pattern of the sun.

It Italy (and the rest of Europe) the clocks changed one week prior, on October 25th.

“Daylight Savings Time” or “Ora Legale” will begin again in the spring of 2016. But until then, remember to set your clocks back one hour on November 2nd to sync to the “Ora Solare”!
